Training depends on your own level of fitness, so you’ve got to figure out how much you personally need. We typically start training in mid March on the warm days and with earnest in April; after daylight savings time begins we add a 6-9 mile midweek ride after work. This past year was our most aggressive schedule, starting with a weekend ride of 5 miles, and extending the length 5 miles each successive weekend. We were rained out one weekend so we only managed to get to the the 30 mile mark the weekend before the tour.
